Mayford Ramsey, husband of Dottie Ramsey the former president and chief operating officer of Modern Supply Co., and the 'First Man' of the Southern Wholesalers Association (SWA), passed away Jan. 12, 2023.

"Husband of Dottie Ramsey passed away on Jan. 12, 2023. Mayford was the original 'First Man' of SWA and he was one of the most genuine and friendly people you would ever want to meet. He was a true gentleman and always left any person or group he spoke with feeling better when he left them...except when he was a Trooper for the State of Tennessee, as I am sure he wrote a few citations in his career. We celebrate his life and recognize that he and Dottie were such strong partners in life.  And in true Dottie and Mayford fashion, their giving continued after they departed. In their will, they left $25k to the Dottie Ramsey Scholarship fund, and the remainder of their estate was divided up and given to multiple charitable organizations. It is an honor to have known them both and I am sure they left a legacy most of us will never know about, but the one we do know is pretty amazing."
