Estes Services Celebrates 70 Years

Resilience and the ability to literally weather change are the reasons Estes Services is celebrating its 70th Anniversary and third-generation ownership. For seven decades now, Estes Services has addressed residents’ heating and cooling needs in the Greater Atlanta area. From the ice storm of January 1973 to ‘Snowmageddon’ in January 2014 to 106 degrees in June 2012, the Estes team has seen the city through all its ups and downs

“I’m in awe and complete appreciation for everyone who has contributed to the success of the company and our consistent growth from nothing in 1949 to over $32 million in 2018,” said President Brian Estes.

Brian represents third-generation ownership and recently assumed the leadership role from his father Tommy Estes, who had been president since 1986 and now serves as CEO. Brian’s grandfather and Tommy’s father N. B. “Nap” Estes founded the company in 1949.

Nap is described by those who remember him as a true innovator in the HVAC industry, as he evolved and experimented in different markets. Nap died in September 1999 and left a legacy that is alive and thriving in Estes Services.

“We couldn’t have made it for 70 years without the vision and determination, as well as the foundation established by him years ago through honesty, integrity and hard work,” said Tommy.

Even though many in the marketplace have consolidated, Estes Services is still family-owned and operated with all growth stemming organically rather than from acquisition. The company employs 170 team members who focus on HVAC, plumbing and electrical residential and light commercial service and replacement markets.

Last February, more than 310 current and past employees, vendors and their guests celebrated the 70th Anniversary and third-generation leadership at the Georgia Aquarium. Many past and present team members were recognized, including 90-year young Charles Wright, who was Estes Services’ third person ever hired.
