Home Builder's Institute's (HBI) industry-validated Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training (PACT) is now aligned with the STEM model, a curriculum based on four specific discipline areas—Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The HBI PACT model is flexible and allows students to benefit from the expanded scope that includes the STEM interdisciplinary and applied approach.

“HBI’s PACT curriculum has remained true to our initial goal of addressing all facets of a trades student’s needs along the program’s entire continuum,” said HBI President and CEO John Courson. “By enhancing our training program with STEM disciplines, we have raised the bar for our PACT curriculum.”

The STEM communities want industries to understand the critical role that STEM education plays so that the U.S. remains an international leader in economic and technological skills that improve the way students learn.

HBI’s new Unit 14 Basic HVAC Technology Instructor Guide includes the STEM enhanced Skill Achievement Record and provides additional instructional guidance and cross-curricular references that can be applied to each day’s instruction. In addition, the students can achieve a higher skill- and comprehension-level of the material through the added instructional sections.
