Showing off their trucks comes naturally for contractors. Here’s a roundup of our latest batch. And take note: Plenty of readers say their trucks are the “best.” But this is no contest and we think everyone’s truck looks great.
A-1 Heating & Cooling Inc.
Rifle, Colo.
“Our A-1 Heating & Cooling, Inc. vans feature the well-known pine trees of our Western Colorado landscape as well as the Colorado state logo. It informs our customers of our services, our emergency availability and our motto, that we will always work to give them the ‘Comfort You Deserve.’
“The wording is short and to the point, but the pops of color and shapes stand out against our rolling hills. The ‘A-1’ tends to imprint itself on passersby’s brains and is easily found on major search engines.
“Each van is built and stocked according to the type of service it will offer, giving our customers ease of mind that we can repair their units the same day.”
“A-1 has been family owned and operated since 1987. What once was operated by a small family out of their small town home has now grown to employ multiple technicians and office staff rolling out more than 15 vehicles daily that travel as far as 100 miles each morning to reach our loyal customers.”
Gold Seal Plumbing
Spokane Valley, Wash.
“We decided to go with the American flag as a wrap because our company is veteran-owned and we have a number of veterans who work for us. We wanted to show our American pride and make our trucks stand out. Everyone in the area knows our logo, which is on all four sides (with phone number), but we wanted to stand out more, which I think we accomplished.
“Becoming the largest service plumbing operation between Seattle and Minneapolis was never a goal, but we are! Having the largest company-training budget for trade skills in Washington State was also a dream, and we made it happen.
“We have more than 25 trucks handling problems from water quality to plugged drains, and from bathroom fixture replacement to emergency leak repair, and from gas piping to sewer hydro jetting.”
High 5 Plumbing
Denver, Colo.
“High 5’s trucks are unique because they focus on the brand much more than the services they provide. On the vehicle wrap, the word ‘plumbing’ can only be seen in two distinct locations, on the door and across the bottom. Most of the emphasis is drawn to the ‘high five’ because the company wants to emphasize its dedication to the customer experience. Every call ‘ends with a high five!’ The truck is also a perfect combination of storage and comfort for the techs.”
“High 5 Plumbing was started in 2012 when Levi and Cassi Torres decided to start their own plumbing company after Levi spent nearly his entire life working in the industry.
“After working for a plumbing company that wouldn’t even give him a day off, Levi decided to start a plumbing business that supported its employees and served every customer with professionalism and respect. High 5 Plumbing was built on these core values, and they continue to pride themselves on providing exceptional services at reasonable prices today. The company specializes in providing exceptional plumbing installation and repair services for our customers while also emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community.”

Hutton Electric, Heating & Air
Norfolk, Va.
“Our design is by Kickcharge and the wrap is installed by The Graphics Shop. One of our favorite aspects is that the lightbulb is illuminated and our mascot is a nod to Tesla.
“Hutton Power & Light, a provider of home services in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, announced its new name, Hutton Electric, Heating & Air, as part of a rebranding effort that highlights the company’s range of electrical, heating, air conditioning and generator solutions.
“As a locally owned and operated service company, it’s essential that we connect with the audiences that drive our success. The community has our promise that we’re still the same business they’ve come to trust, and updating our name and graphics helps us stand out in the constant stream of information and images we’re surrounded by and be easily recognized. We remain committed to delivering reliable, high-quality services to homeowners and business owners throughout our community.”
“Having the right team and culture is critical. When technicians and support staff feel like part of a team instead of just employees, you’ll see the kind of performance that ensures sustained customer satisfaction and loyalty. Our focus when hiring is character. We can train people who have a good attitude and work ethic who will contribute to the culture we believe in. The leadership team here has taken on responsibility for training our team. Nobody knows better than we do what we need for our team and our customers.”
Jay’s Heating, Air and Plumbing
Mt. Airy, N.C.
“This year, we decided it was time to rebrand our company. Our old logo served us really well over the years, but we thought it was time to energize the brand. We contacted Dan Antonelli w/KickCharge, and they really knocked it out of the park for our new logo with a face lift with all new colors, logo, tagline, and even a new name!
“Our vans are hard to miss in our small town and catches the eye of all those who pass it. We have received numerous compliments on our new designs, as well as new calls from potential customers. With the addition of plumbing services, our company is growing and thriving, and we look forward to see what the future holds here at Jay’s Heating, Air and Plumbing.”
“Jay’s is a family owned, fourth-generation business operated by Jamie Vaughan. We serve northern North Carolina and southern Virginia, specializing in heating and air conditioning since 2005. We take pride in quality workmanship and friendly customer service, which is our No. 1 goal. Over the years, we’ve built relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors and our employees who we are proud to call our partners.”
JD Service Now
Durham, N.C.
“Our trucks are the best because the colors pop, standing out against the typical blue ones you see out there of our competitors. They come fully stocked of the typical everyday parts so that our technicians can service a customer on the spot. Company maintained, purchased and stocked ready for our employees.
“We just celebrated 17 years this August of being in business. We also welcomed our third trade by offering electrical service last August. John Dietz started this company knowing what he wanted, a company that took care of its people and the customers. He saw plenty of examples of what not to do from other places he worked and so that gave him great motivation to deliver something different.
“John is a plumber by trade originally, we added HVAC in 2013, and now can offer the service of pipe lining to our customers. Currently we employ around 65 people one of which is John’s father-in-law. Family doesn’t just stop there, we also have another father-daughter duo here as well as a couple who are both employed. It means a lot to know that someone likes it here so much that they encourage their loved ones to join the team.
“We have 40 trucks on the roads in Durham, Chapel Hill and the surrounding Triangle in North Carolina. When any of our trucks show up at the home we are there to help, and #WeDoItRight.”
Jim Wagner Services Inc.
Lombard, Ill.
“Jim Wagner Services Inc. is a plumbing, heating and cooling residential and commercial independently owned service company that was established in 2007. We service the west suburbs of Chicago. This particular truck is a Ford transit equipped with a 12-foot, all-aluminum Hackney box. Notable mentions unique to our fleet is we use all reflective graphics other than the lower blue border around the rear wheel openings.”
Just In Time
Sandwich, Ill.
“We wanted to go with a ‘super hero’ theme for our logo, which is why we have the clock guy all muscular and looking like a super hero. Our name comes from our owner named ‘Justin.’
“At Just In Time, creating loyalty is the foundation for everything we do. Just In Time strives to provide exceptional customer service and professional workmanship at a great value to our customers.”
Miller’s Services
Saluda, Va.
“Miller’s Services, a family-owned business that serves the middle peninsula of Virginia, is proud to provide customers with a high level of customer service and quality work in the areas of septic, plumbing, drain cleaning, heating and cooling, and electrical services.
“One of the ways we are recognized around town is by our Miller’s trucks. Our goal for the trucks was for them to be well branded, as well as memorable and easily identifiable on the street. With the strong red in our logo and how we’ve translated that to the truck, we conceptualized ‘painting the town red.’ We’re in a small town where there aren’t a lot of wrapped trucks, so our well-cared-for work vehicles make us stand out as a professional and large company. When you see the red van or truck on the road or even in driveways as you pass by, you know it’s Miller’s!
“It’s also the basis of our branding. Many of our marketing collateral or other materials either have photos with the truck on them or are modeled in some form or fashion after our trucks. Our trucks are hard to miss, and as we drive to the next job, we aim to represent not only our services but the message that Miller’s Services is a trusted local company eager to serve our community.”
Petri Plumbing Heating Cooling & Drain Cleaning
Brooklyn, N.Y.
“Even in the largest city in the country, our fleet still stands out and delivers the added punch to our brand awareness. A neat and crisp wrap design of exciting blue and yellow coupled with a very strict cleaning requirement makes our trucks beautiful trucks POP in the concrete jungle!
“Nearly 15 percent of our new clients come to us through the recognition of our trucks on the busy streets. Petri Plumbing Heating Cooling & Drain Cleaning is a growing residential service company that has added two more beautifully wrapped trucks to its fleet in 2022 with another three planned for 2023.”
Smith Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electrical
Colorado Springs, Colo.
“Originally founded in 1974, Eva Robinson bought the company in May 2018. In 2017, revenues (the year before she purchased the company) were $624,000. Smith will finish 2022 at $20 million. A 3,027 percent growth factor in just five years of ownership!
“Eva now owns and runs the largest home services company in Colorado Springs with more than 80 employees and 58 trucks.
“That’s Eva pictured on our trucks. Known locally as ‘Eva the Polish Plumber’ (Eva is a first-generation Polish-American and speaks fluent Polish), Eva has brought the passion of her family business to her own business in Colorado Springs.
SmithPro Plumbing
Papillion, Nebraska
“An independently owned business, SmithPro Plumbing began as a one-man operation more than 10 years ago. Today, we have numerous trucks and a full-service plumbing staff. We pride ourselves on our professionalism, work ethic, and reputation for solid service. We are located in Papillion, Neb. and proudly serve the community in our area. This is the newest truck in our fleet. It is also the very first one we have badged so it is very special to us!”
Smylie One
Bedford Heights, Ohio
“Smylie One was established in 2003. William Smylie, his son Steven Smylie, and son-in-law Gary Rosen, wanted to establish a company name, and a recognizable logo that would be recognized by their past customers throughout Northeast Ohio.
“William’s roots went back to 1955 with Smylie Bros. Mechanical. He adamantly said that he wanted to incorporate the Smylie name into our new name. The Smylie family has been in the HVAC and plumbing business for decades and wanted everyone to know that we were back!
“Gary, vice president of marketing and sales, came up with the name Smylie One. One, being the ‘one’ company to choose, the No. 1 company in our area. It’s symbolic and has worked out rather well.
“The logo and truck design came after. We wanted to have icons that represented all of the areas of service, as well as minor graphics that showed our strength in metal and fabrication, which we used as the bottom decal wrap. We show our customers our phone number, which has the wording ‘HEAT’ in it, along with our website, which is simply our company name, and, of course, our Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer Medal of Excellence Badge.
“The last and most important item is the ‘Smylie face.’ Customers always mention the catchiness of the Smylie face, and how often they see it on our fleet of 35 vehicles! Steven still thinks Gary designed the logo to look like him. Smylie One, a family owned and run business that uses its 1955 slogan ‘Service with a Smylie’ in everything we do!”
Southern Phoenix Services
Woodstock, Ga.
“As the owner of Southern Phoenix Services, Julie Guy has been in the industry for more than 10 years. She knows that providing quality work, competitive pricing and excellent customer service are what set our company apart from the rest. Integrity, reliability, value and attention to detail are what we are all about.
“The phoenix symbol chosen for our logo represents Atlanta’s rebirth after the Civil War. Julie left the plumbing company that she started with her partner and started Southern Phoenix Services solo. Hence, the rebirth of her plumbing career.
“We think our truck is the best because we kept it simple when it came to lettering it up. Just with name number and what we do. The red is Julie’s favorite color and yellow a favorite of her close friend who passed. Together those two colors make the ‘Phoenix’ in ‘Southern Phoenix’ pop and are extra special. We receive several calls a week complimenting us on its trucks. Guess the rolling billboard is getting noticed :)”
T ‘N G Plumbing
Dexter, Minn.
“We do opt for the red so we can stand out when we are driving these moving billboards. We are proud to show our support for our first responders – our protectors and our backbone of the community! [EDITOR’S NOTE: That’s on the back.] We feel honoring them and thanking them is of great importance and shows respect.

Vortex Plumbing
Chino, Calif.
“Vortex Plumbing, located in Chino, Calif., was established in 1992 by my brother Mike Burns.
“Mike grew up in Hacienda Heights, Calif., and graduated from Wilson High School in 1979. Mike served in the U.S. Army for four years where he learned about water purification, water treatment and plumbing.
“His experience in the military lead to the start of Vortex Plumbing. Mike founded Vortex Plumbing on hard work, quality service, and honesty. He was an exceptional leader to his employees and always held his team to high standards. Mike took pride in building relationships with every customer and business associate. He was always ready and willing to help which is reflected in the company’s 24 hour service.”
“Mike often said, ‘It would always put a smile on my face when I would leave the job after a repair and the homeowner or tenant would say, ‘Thank you so much.’ There’s no better feeling than to help someone out when they’re in distress.’
“Mike passed away in December 2019, and his caring heart is greatly missed. But his legacy remains at the heart of Vortex Plumbing.
“Since his passing, I have stepped in to manage things until his son Eric, who is pictured in one of the photos, is capable of taking over.”
