Lennox Delivers Heat on 10th Annual Feel The Love Program

Lennox International celebrated its 10th annual Feel The Love Day, Oct. 4-6, as more than 300 dealers helped install at no cost free HVAC equipment to more than 300 homeowners nationwide.

This year marked more than 1,300 total installations since the program’s inception in 2009, with more than 300 dealers donating their time this year to install systems.

A few of the deserving homeowners in 2019 included:

  • A single mother of two adopted, special needs children living in Chicago who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and whose furnace stopped working in March.
  • A disabled veteran in Houston whose home was damaged by Hurricane Harvey.
  • A woman housing six medically fragile/autistic children for ongoing care and behavioral treatment near Sacramento, California.
  • A single mother of four in Atlanta whose AC unit produced cold/hot air, causing the children to be sick.
  • A wounded veteran who adopted his grandson after his child passed away outside of Los Angeles.
  • A family in Washington, D.C., whose parents work three jobs to support their seven children and two mothers.

Lennox’s community outreach initiative focuses on providing home comfort to families in need, in partnership with its dealers.

The program invites individuals and local organizations in participating areas in the United States and Canada to nominate families or individuals in their communities to receive heating equipment at no cost, including installation.

Recipients are chosen based on a variety of criteria, including physical, mental, or social disabilities; financial challenges; job loss; military service; and community service.

Nominations are accepted from May through August through the Feel The Love website. After finalizing recipients in September, the equipment is installed during the first weekend of October.

Lennox provides recipients with high-efficiency Lennox Merit systems complete with three-year Comfort Shield Labor Protection Plans. Participating dealers donate time and labor to make the program a success.

Dave Chatmon, Lennox district manager for Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, started the pilot program, then called Heat UP, in Wisconsin in 2009 with a single furnace installed by Wesley Heating.

“Small beginnings, but to the wounded veteran who felt the comfort of heat in his own home, there was nothing small about it,” Chatmon wrote on a blog to mark the 10th anniversary. “The next year, we had 82 installations in Wisconsin.”

Lennox officially launched the Feel The Love campaign in 2018.

“As I look back on the last decade, I’m blown away by the generosity of our Lennox dealers across North America, whose employees give up their weekends to install systems for those in need,” Chatmon writes. “And the generosity doesn't stop there – many times the employees landscape, help with projects around the house and more, all to bring a smile to a homeowner in need. They genuinely want to lend a hand to their local communities.”
