Sugar Land, TX - Since the mid-1900s the Cast Iron Soil Pipe (CISP) industry has historically been plagued with acquisitions, buyouts and liquidations. This has kept engineers, developers, building owners, and distributors in a state of confusion, never knowing from one day to the next what company or products they could confidently specify.
For Bick Singh, the president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NewAge Casting, this state of confusion and fluctuation presented great opportunities. NewAge Casting would not exist today but DWV Casting, the company where Singh previously worked, was acquired and liquidated at the end of 2004. “I was so disappointed,” says Singh. “I felt that there was so much more that could be done for the industry. I recall brooding about it, when my father, Bo, who now serves as the vice president of NewAge Casting, challenged me to start my own company. And so, NewAge Casting was launched on July 5, 2005. And, in the last ten years, we’ve accomplished innovations that have forever changed the cast iron soil industry,” states Singh.
NewAge Castings and its products continue to revolutionize the industry, particularly its uniquely designed Epoxy Coated Cast Iron Soil Pipe system. This innovative system allows engineers and building owners to really push the bar for chemical resistance, hot water, temperature cycling, and salt spray resistance. There is no comparison to the protection offered by epoxy coated iron pipes versus the traditional asphalt coating which hasn’t changed for over a century.
The lifespan, reliability and environmental advantages of NewAge Casting’s products continue to prove their value over and over. “There are many innovations yet to come that NewAge Casting will be launching as we continue to modernize the industry,” states Singh. Today, NewAge Casting produces the complete lines of No-Hub (hubless) Pipe and Fittings 1 ½” – 15” and Service Weight (SV) Pipe and fittings ranging from 2” to 15.” It also produces a full line of NH Couplings 1 ½” – 15” in standard (2 band), heavy duty (medium), and extra heavy duty to complete the full NewAge system. NewAge Casting has five distribution centers across the country totaling over 200,000 square feet of indoor storage to protect products from the elements, and 32-A level manufacturer representatives across the country.
These reps provide full support to all levels of the industry. NewAge Casting is also very fortunate to partner with independent regional distributors across the country. “We are very grateful to our many dedicated sales reps, contractors and distributors,” states Singh. “They have helped make NewAge Casting a corner stone of the plumbing industry over the past ten years, and with what is on our drawing board, we anticipate celebrating many more decades of success.”
